Shortcut to updates on:

Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park

Sept 2013. Glenorchy City Council is preparing a plan to improve signage and wayfinding within the park. The current maps are outdated, visitors have difficulty finding their way and the popular North-South Track is hard to find at the Glenorchy end. The project should help make the park more user-friendly and inviting.

Criterium Circuit

Feb 2012. The 800m circuit track is complete and will be officially opened on 3 March with the first event being run. The project was funded by Glenorchy City Council and a Trails and Bikeways Grant from Sport and Recreation Tasmania.
June 2011. New cycling hub at Tolosa Park. Council received funding from Sport & Recreation Tasmania to construct a criterium circuit and warm-up track at Tolosa Park. This will complement the existing mountain bike park and make Tolosa Park a hub for all types of bike riding.
Dec 2010. Tolosa Park to become cycling hub. Council is preparing plans for a criterium course with a warm-up track as well as a children’s road safety training track (similar to the popular ones at Dru Point and Tynwald Park). With the Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park in the vicinity it will become a fantastic location for all types of bike riding.

Childrens bike track

Apr 2012. Cycling South was successful with a grant application to Sport and Recreation Tasmania for a children's bike track at Tolosa Park. The grant will provide $80,000 towards the project, with the remaining funds and in-kind contributions being provided by Glenorchy City Council, Glenorchy Lions Club and Glenorchy Rotary Club. Work is expected to commence later in the year. The track will provide a traffic-free, fun and stimulating location for children to ride their bikes.

BMX Track

Oct 2010. Berriedale BMX track upgrade. Southern City BMX Club received a $10,000 grant from Sport and Recreation Tasmania to upgrade the BMX track at Berridale and work on the redevelopment is nearly complete.
