Glenorchy Council
Glenorchy City Council extends from the New Town Rivulet in the south (on the boundary with Hobart City Council) and extends north through residential and industrial areas to Granton, near the Bridgewater Bridge.

Glenorchy's Recreation Strategy (1996) identified more cycle paths as a high priority for residents. The Sport and Recreation Strategy (2003-2006) identified bike riding as the second most popular recreation activity with 75% of survey respondents listing bike tracks as the most popular recreation facility. Council did a Paths, Tracks and Trails Survey in September 2019. The main themes were:
1. Bringing the river to the city - improving crossing points over the Brooker Hwy at Montrose, Goodwood and DEC
2. Improving the Intercity Cycleway - extend it further north to Granton and improve connections to the Glenorchy CBD, foreshore and MONA
3. More recreational paths and tracks - develop a network that links and extends the existing recreational paths and tracks to all major recreational destinations (eg: Montrose Foreshore area, MONA, Windermere Bay etc) in parks, reserves and alongside rivulets.
4. Safer footpaths - Improve the 466km of footpaths
5. Building infrastructure for all abilities - install kerb ramps on footpaths at intersections
6. Providing safer road environment - Continue to invest in Road User Safety Improvement projects. Priorities include:
