Sept 2013. Glenorchy City Council is preparing a plan to improve signage and wayfinding within the park. The current maps are outdated, visitors have difficulty finding their way and the popular North-South Track is hard to find at the Glenorchy end. The project should help make the park more user-friendly and inviting.
Feb 2012. The 800m circuit track is complete and will be officially opened on 3 March with the first event being run. The project was funded by Glenorchy City Council and a Trails and Bikeways Grant from Sport and Recreation Tasmania.
June 2011. New cycling hub at Tolosa Park. Council received funding from Sport & Recreation Tasmania to construct a criterium circuit and warm-up track at Tolosa Park. This will complement the existing mountain bike park and make Tolosa Park a hub for all types of bike riding.
Dec 2010. Tolosa Park to become cycling hub. Council is preparing plans for a criterium course with a warm-up track as well as a children’s road safety training track (similar to the popular ones at Dru Point and Tynwald Park). With the Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park in the vicinity it will become a fantastic location for all types of bike riding.
. Cycling South was successful with a grant application to Sport and Recreation Tasmania for a children's bike track at Tolosa Park. The grant will provide $80,000 towards the project, with the remaining funds and in-kind contributions being provided by Glenorchy City Council, Glenorchy Lions Club and Glenorchy Rotary Club. Work is expected to commence later in the year. The track will provide a traffic-free, fun and stimulating location for children to ride their bikes.
Dec 2013. New home for BMX club? Preliminary discussions are underway to relocate the BMX club to Tolosa Park to complement the cycling hub.
Oct 2010. Berriedale BMX track upgrade. Southern City BMX Club received a $10,000 grant from Sport and Recreation Tasmania to upgrade the BMX track at Berridale and work on the redevelopment is nearly complete.
